Important Reminders & FAQs

Again, welcome to the 13th Annual Pre-College and Youth Outreach Conference (PCC)! Here are some important reminders to help you have a smooth and successful experience:

NEED A LINK?
You will find session times and Zoom links on the “Schedule with Zoom Links” page. The majority of the conference will be in a “Meeting” format of Zoom (not a webinar) and will include the occasional use of breakout rooms.
NEED A PASSCODE?
You will need a passcode to access the Zoom links for all sessions. The passcode was sent to all participants via email. If you are having trouble finding this email, please email Marissa Taylor at mnrivas@umich.edu.
TROUBLE FINDING SESSION INFO?
All of the session information can be found on the “Morning Session” and “Afternoon Session” pages. Links to the sessions and speaker slides can be found on these pages.
HOW TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS?
We encourage you to introduce yourself in the chat when you enter a session as well as “rename” yourself to include your institution. There will also be a networking session in the morning with many of the conference steering committee members.
WHAT IF I NEED A BREAK?
Today’s conference allows time for you to take breaks. During these times, we encourage you to move away from your computer, hydrate, stretch, eat, or do anything else you need. Also, feel free to listen to a session while completing other tasks as needed.
WILL SESSIONS BE RECORDED?
All sessions will be recorded and will be available for later snippet viewing and marketing purposes. If you would like to obtain a recording of an unedited session, please email Marissa Taylor at mnrivas@umich.edu.
CAPTIONS?
Every session will provide automatic captions. To activate this, click on “Live Transcript” and then select “Show Subtitle.” To increase the subtitles’ size, go to your Zoom settings. Then click on “Accessibility” and adjust the sliding scale under “Closed Caption Font Size.”
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE TODAY?
Your attendance today is an investment in your outreach career and we thank you for attending. We encourage you to participate in ways that best align with your needs and your learning style. This could mean having your camera on/off, participating in the chat, looking through the speakers’ slides, or even putting away some laundry while you listen. Today is for you and your journey.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF ATTENDEES?
Be kind to yourself and others. As an organization that prioritizes respect, inclusion, and leadership, we expect all participants to be respectful and avoid disruptive behaviors throughout the event. Any disrespectful or disruptive behavior will result in removal from the Zoom session. We trust that all attendees will be able to engage positively.
EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL ISSUES?
If you are experiencing any technical difficulties with Zoom, try one of the following troubleshooting suggestions or email Marissa Taylor at mnrivas@umich.edu: (1) Check to ensure your internet connection is working; restarting your WIFI could improve your connection. (2) Log off Zoom and relaunch the link. (3) Ensure you are using the latest version of Zoom by clicking this link and selecting “DOWNLOAD.” (4) Restart your computer.
